Benecko village in the Krkonoše Mountains

Benecko is a picturesque village located in the western Krkonoše Mountains at an altitude of 1,000 m. The history of the former mining community dates back to the 16th century. Its terminal position on the western slopes of the Žalý ridge (Přední Žalý – 1019 m) provides Benecko with favorable climatic conditions and long hours of sunshine.

They are also connected with nice views to the west and north (the Jizera valley or the massifs of Lysá hora and Kotle).

Accommodation and Catering

In the center of the village, there are several ski rental shops, ski schools, restaurants, and refreshment stands. Benecko is focused on tourism, and therefore we find many hotels, guesthouses, and private accommodation facilities here.

Benecko Ski Resort

The Benecko ski resort offers downhill skiing enthusiasts 8 groomed slopes, and due to their varying difficulty levels, they are suitable for children or beginner skiers and snowboarders. Benecko also has cross-country trails totaling 15 km in length, which are connected to Špindlerův Mlýn, Horní Mísečky, and the ski route.

Transport Accessibility

In addition to individual car transport, Benecko can also be reached by a regular bus line from Jilemnice or Vrchlabí. The local road branches off from road 286 towards Horní Mísečky about 1.5 km above Hrabačov on the right and is connected to the road to Vrchlabí – a transit village.
